Season by season
Spring (April–May). A between-seasons lull: spring skiing on the upper slopes, snow lingering on trails and some lake businesses still closed. Low prices.
Summer (June–September). Warm, dry and sunny, with cool nights. The beaches, trails and roads are busy in July and August; September is calmer and often just as fine.
Autumn (October–November). Crisp days, golden aspens and very few visitors. Early snow is possible and some summer services close.
Winter (December–March). Ski season. Heavy snowfalls alternate with bright blue days; holidays and weekends are crowded and expensive.
